Wheelchair ramps, handrails & grab rails 2017-06-27T10:46:30+00:00

Stairs and steps. They’re everywhere you look, from the steps down to your garden, to the raised threshold of your front door. And if you don’t have an accessible or walk in shower, even bathing requires stepping over a lip. This can make getting around your home unsettling if you’re unsteady on your feet, or downright impossible if you use a wheelchair.

We have a range of solutions to help solve this problem. Whether you need a simple handrail or grab rail to assist with balance, or a permanent set of ramps for your home, get in touch with us today for a free quote or read on to find out more about what we can offer.

Wheelchair and access ramps

If you use a wheelchair or scooter, or just struggle with stairs, access ramps can help you enter your home with ease, as well as getting in and out of the front door. We’ve installed different types of ramps in a wide variety of homes. If you’re not sure what the most suitable option is for you and your home, give us a call and we’d be happy to offer some advice.

Traditional ramps

If you’re looking for a permanent access solution to your home, then a traditional ramp is worth considering. By ‘traditional’, we mean a brick, stone or concrete ramp that’s suitable for wheelchairs and heavy scooters.

Our traditional ramps comply with all relevant design guidelines with respect to ramp gradient and length and have a non-slip surface. We can also add a brick or stone finish, to help your ramp blend in with the rest of your house. Installing a traditional ramp can be a big decision to make, so give us a call and we can talk you through the pros and cons.

Modular ramps

If you don’t want to make structural changes to your home, modular ramps can be a great alternative to a traditional ramp. They’re quick and easy to install, require little to no maintenance and can be completely disassembled if you want them removed at a later date. If you rent your home, your landlord may prefer you to install a modular ramp to a traditional ramp.

Modular ramps can be used as a permanent or semi-permanent access solution. Unlike traditional ramps, they can be put together in bad weather – handy if you need a quick solution in the middle of a Yorkshire winter! With slip-resistant surfaces, we can provide steel or aluminium ramps depending on your budget.

Temporary ramps

Steps aren’t just an issue in your home. The outside world is full of them and this can be intimidating if you use a wheelchair or have limited mobility. Lightweight, temporary ramps can help you be independent outside of the home by helping you overcome minor obstacles and visit friends and family without having to worry about whether you can make it through the front door.

We have a wide range of temporary ramps, from fold-up ramps to telescopic channels and even a roll-up ramp. We can also provide portable or permanent threshold bridging ramps to bridge door thresholds or changes in floor surface. Temporary ramps can be a good solution if you’re likely to move to a new property soon, you’re waiting for a permanent ramp to be installed or just want a low-cost alternative to a permanent structure.

Handrails and grab rails

Path and step handrails and grab rails are some of the cheapest adaptations you can make to your home to help you remain independent.
Our range of grab rails are suitable for use inside and outside the home. Whether you’re after ‘cheap and cheerful’, or sleek and elegant, we have rails in a variety of materials and colours that can blend in with the style of your home, or deliberately stand out (if you have a visionary impairment).

A handrail offers additional support and confidence on outside paths, steps and ramps. Our handrails are made from galvanised steel and can be coated in plastic for a more comfortable grip.

If you’re not sure what combination of rails you may need, we’re happy to carry out a free, no obligation survey of your home.

Mobility Scooters

We don’t provide scooters, but once you have one, you’ll need somewhere to store and charge it at home. We can provide a base for a shed or bespoke scooter store, erect a structure if required and add in an electrical point to charge from.
